Founded in 2010 by two seasoned agency designers, Elbow has built a reputation for steadfast delivery of brand communication ideas and a disciplined approach to executing them. Commercially savvy, we keep a tight focus on business objectives, as well as the creative elements of a project. The two partners learned their craft at some of London’s most renowned graphic design agencies, helping many of the UK’s biggest brands to engage more closely with their target audiences. Elbow combines this high-end experience with a friendly, informal approach, bringing “big agency” thinking and creativity within reach of smaller organisations and we do it all from our studio in Walthamstow E17.

Identity & Branding
We create striking brand identities that not only make their mark today, but continue to do so long into the future. We pride ourselves by not being bound by the latest fad and design for effectiveness. By researching, questioning and understanding client audiences, we find ways to make brands stand apart.
Got a specific message to communicate? We combine quirky thinking and understanding of core issues to devise communication approaches to commercial or social issue campaigns. So whether your need is to unravel complex data or simply to shout about a business proposition, we can provide a fresh perspective.
Why do we call it digital? Most of our client needs extend far beyond the design of a website (we do that to) but often we are asked to help with extending a brand into PowerPoint, Word templates or Mailchimp. We consider anything screen based to be digital - from responsive websites to interactive or accessible PDFs.
We started life in the retail work working with the likes of M&S, Superdrug, WHSmith and Woolworths (remember them?) . We've got donkey's years of experience pushing and devising retail solutions in store. Now that environment extends into online - we can do that to.
Ah, bread and butter to us. We eat print and love the smell of a freshly printed brochure. The feel of the paper or the look of a nice foil - who doesn't? . We love nothing better than to take complex data or information and work to better communicate through type, colour and texture.
Copywriting & Photography
Part of parcel of creating great looking solutions to ensure it reads well. Words are as important as bangers are to mash, done right they can convey a tone of voice that underpins the visual language and we love to create cracking positioning statements as well as cool brands. We are pretty good behind the camera too and masters of photoshop. If we can't do it here we have our network of photographers and copywriters we can call on.

Lancasters Home and Garden is a family owned and run business which is into its fifth decade. Selling plants and gardening products from their base in Walthamstow, Lanscasters also offer a design led landscaping service. The initial discussions were around developing their website, it became clear that there was an opportunity to challenge the notion of what a 'garden centre' should look like and in particular a develpoping miss-step of how Walthamstow has changed and in particular the rise of the makers culture and the changing demographic.

Healthwatch have significant statutory powers to ensure the voice of the consumer is strengthened and heard by those who commission, deliver and regulate health and care services. Net Lettings approached us to help redefine their brand image as part of the process to re-position the business. We helped define the brief and shape the process that called for the brand to appeal to City businesses and their key decision makers who have a requirement to locate and house their workforce in London either short or long term. We devised a mark and image which is cool, contemporary and professional in outlook. The story tells of a lettings agent which has the pulse of the City at its heart.
NAPA (National Activities Providers Association) is a national charity dedicated to providing stimulating and fulfilling activities for older people in a care environment. Their mission is to support care teams to enable people to live life to way they choose, with life, love and laughter. Our goal was to change NAPAs visual narrative to reflect their mission. Avoiding a complete rebrand we built on their simple logo to build a brand image around their core colours to inject energy and a sense of fun across all membership collateral from print to online including a redesigned website.
